A cycling metropolis?
Architectureweek 19 - 25 April
The Leiden region covers an area of roughly 15km2, in which 400,000 cyclists travel from and to work, home, school, sport and shopping, on a daily basis. This tiny region is naturally designed for cyclists to thrive in, and could perhaps even be a prototype for cycling metropoles around the globe. Let's build on that!
During Architectuurweek, citizens, urban designers, architects and governments meet, to discuss all important aspects of what it means to be a Cycling Metropole. Check out our program to discover what the Week has in store for you. Some events may be in Dutch, some are in English.
- The conference on April 19th, for instance, features english lectures by Steven Fleming (AUS) en Louis Vogel Kielgast (DK).
- The international exposition Bicycle Architecture Biennale, that is held in De Tuin van de Smid (see map below), is also in English. It has free entrance. Find opening hours here.
- The cinema breakfast in Kijkhuis on Sunday the 22nd of April shows English Spoken films. It has free entrance. Please sign up here.
